NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - John Deere & Co. said Monday it is closing two plants and eliminating about 300 jobs as it restructures its commercial and consumer equipment division. The plants being closed, in Williamsburg, Va., and Jeffersonville, Ind., have about 235 full-time employees between them, although the company said some of the employees will be offered positions at other locations. In addition, Deere is offering early retirement incentives to cut an unspecified number of jobs at its Horicon, Wis., plant and will transfer another 100 jobs there to North Carolina. The jobs being cut equal about 7 percent of the farm equipment maker's commercial and consumer equipment division.
