Seeing that there was no need for a BRAND new 9N/2N starter switch for the Gentleman from Michigan below...I'll post this question to all on this site..and the first prson to answer it correctly will get a BRAND NEW FNH 9N/2N Starter Switch.

Here's the question:

From 1942-47 how many 2N's were manufactured? But how many were manufactured during the war years? And, describe two significant production changes that occured on the 2N model.

First person to eloquently post the correct answers will receive this $37.82 FNH 9N/2N Part; new in the box with mounting instructions.

Fine print: winner must pay shipping cost and provide their address

Charles(M0).

ALthough Charles could have written with more eloquence, we can overlook that because he was under pressure to provide the closest answer. :)

Congratulations Charles.

BUT here is the answer:

Page 44 Peterson and Beemer - Originality Guide N-Series Tractors last paragraph:

"...it does speak eloquently of both the management and workers that tractors rolled off the line as regularly as they did. From 1942-47, a total of 197,129 2N's were manaufactured. More than 99,000 were manufactured during the war years."

Send me your address with 5.00 and the switch is yours. Way to GO Charles.

For the rest of the class, more quizzes will appear when spontaneous moments of generosity take hold of me.

it depends on the complexity of the question and the detail of the response. We must practice our eloquence, so the 'eloqunce' factor will be taken into consideration as well.

We can forgive Charles{MO} this time, but for Charles to be in the running next time, he must write with eloquence...and the same goes for rest of the class.

This is more than just a parts and history contest, this is a test on eloquence as well.

After-all, it's my contest, I can make up the rules. LOL!) :)

Your Question is to broad and can be interpreted in many ways, what do you consider War years ? When U S got involved ? When it all ended ? When it all started ? Are you talking Jan . 1st 1942 till Dec. 31st 1947 ? Im sure what ever you consider the right answer can be disputed. There is no correct answer. ( got an 8n and dont need a 2n 9n starter switch ) .

Little known fact
As the war heated up more and more men were removed from the factory workforce. Women started building the tractors and complaining about the drab gray paint scheme. The redbellies were invented just to shut them up.

If I win I would like to donate the switch to the Save the Whales foundation.

1) There's conflicting data on the number of 2N's made between '42 and '47. I'd say bout 205,953.

2)Let's see, war ended in spring of '45. So maybe 184,392 were manufacture between '39 and '45.

2) 2N changes were tubular radius rods and a "2N" stamped under the Ford script in the badge.

Just giving it a try. :-)

Hi 9Ner,
I hope this is correct. Total 2N's made 216060. Dureing war years 109828. I included 1945. Significant changes; steering wheel went to 3 spokes, pressurized cooling system. During the war, steel wheels and no electric starting.
Sorry I can't be more eloquent, I am under pressure from the clock.
Charles
