I am reading about these guys wanting to give up on their N's and I have to wonder about mine.
The valves stick once in a while it has a bit of blowby coming out. I bought it three years ago got a decent price. Since then I have beat the crap out of it. I have been using it to clear level and landscape a 2 acre chunk of a seven acre wooded lot I use it as a bulldozer a log skidder a ditch digger a rock hauler and a thousand other things ole Henry would'nt approve of. Granted it did shear the rivets in the rearend but I deserved that for what I was doing with her. I've changed the oil three times and in between I top off with whatever I have around.
When she is broke don't usually take but an hour or so to get her goin again. Front mount with a broken cork gasket and a bunch of other little stuff that should be done. But this Fifty year old machine always gets the job done. Am I lucky and just got an especially robust tractor or is it just that guys with dependable N's don't post that much?

Ours has been in the family for 30+ years. Did all kinds of work with 4 boys usually operating it and no first gear. I don't remember it ever getting an oil change though I'm sure it did. Maintence was fixing what you broke or bent enough so it would work again. Went through a bunch of coils and batteries over the years (12V jumps). Finally gave it a rest about 4 years ago and rebuilt a bunch of stuff and a coat of paint. Rebuilt Gen this spring and it fires up every time it is needed.

Like you I use my 52 8n forevery thing, Log skidder mower, tiller, post hole digger, bull dozer ect. and rarely have any trouble. Heck the first three years I had her I didn't do anything but put gas in her and abuse her. She gets lots better treatment now though. I hope I'm in half as good of shape when I turn 50.
