I'm new to this 8n cast iron technology, I do have some experience with cast iron. When I cleaned the pan on this one, up shows the crack filled with that stronger than bondo gray stuff. Any ideas on welding it, I've seen it done with gray iron fittings, biiig ones. I've got the means to heat the pan before welding and anneal it with a cooldown cycle but would like to hear what works and doesn't warp the pan. Thanks, Prentice

Prentice..... ...unless you're experiencing failure of the epoxy patch. I'd recommend leaving it. And even if it were leaking, I'd probably re-poxie it, following instructions and cleaning more throughly. Castiron is somewhat porus and can inhibit good sealing if not cleaned well. I'd also drill a "stop" hole at end of crack.

J&B Weld is a fairly successful and strong product and has been often recommended and used successfully for castiron oilpan repair..... ...Dell
