I have a 2N and started having trouble with the clutch not disengaging when the pedal is depressed. The tractor keeps power on for about 2 to 3 seconds and then disengages.

Question is whether or not this is an adjustment problem solved by adjusting the clevis or major work needed?

Ron,
How much travel is there before takeup? I don't have the manual in front of me, so I don't recall the distance (quite short). correct. If there is too much pre-travel you are probably having to press way down before it disengages. But Rusty may be correct. Try the simple first, i.e. fiddle with the clevis, before you tear it apart to look at the clutch plate.

I would say your clutch plate is sticking to the flywheel, caused by oil leakage from a bad seal on the front transmission shaft, you could also have to much trany fluid in it, some just block down the clutch pedal when its not in use , seems to help untill " the big split" if you know what I mean, Iv heard of adding a cup or so of talcom powder in the starter hole helps, never tryed it myself .

I'd try adjusting it first.
