I figured someone on the tractor board would know, What's the difference between a ford 8 hole rim and a chev 8 hole rim on a 16 inch truck tire? I know some models of ford and dodge rims will change, but the center hole might be smaller on one or the other. I have a utility trailer made out of an old truck bed and I don't have a clue wheather it is a ford or chev. Need to get a spare tire fer it. Thanks for any information.

Rick,

Like Dell says, take one with you or measure it. I think the Chevy has the smaller center hole. I have aftermarket rims (centers were made for all 8 hole applications) and the center hole is much larger than necessary for my 81 Chevy 3/4 ton front hubs.

Typically most older 16 - 16.5 rims interchange due to the fact most of the front axles were made by Dana not the truck manufacturers. I have a '76 chevy 4X4 3/4 ton with ford and GM 16.5 8 bolt wheels on it.

I have a '74 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 that had 16 inch wheels. I had some 16.5 Chev wheels with almost new tread. They fit the back okay but the center hole was smaller and wouldn't fit the front. Hope that helps.

Rick..... ....take a tire/rim off of the trailer that fits and haul the whole sunna-gun down to a used tire place or recycling emporium and tell'em ya wants one just like this 'un. Nothing like face-to-face to get the fact straight..... ..Dell
