What the 8N can do...

In the last week, I've used my 8N to:
...run a 7' sickle-bar to cut about 400' of pond bank with 4' high grass/weeds,
...pull a 5' drag through the pond to pull out all the weeds underneath. She grunted a little on that one.
...haul away the grass and weeds in the trailer.
...mow about 6 acres of grass with the finish mower.
...run the back-blade to push all the mess down over the bank out back.
...scrape out an 8' fire pit in a sandy spot in the back yard. ...haul out the 8x8 raft from its winter storage, lift one end and pull it around to the pond and push it in.
...pull out the 24' camper so I can start getting it ready for vacation.
...pick up a few "projects" (a plow and a cultivator) laying in the weeds and get them out into the daylight so I can see how much work they need.
...put the "projects" back in the weeds so the wife doesn't notice them.

All this in 90 deg+ heat without missing a beat or complaining. I'm half dead, but the 8N just keeps running. The more I use it, the more uses I find for it.

It's amazing what a 50 year old tractor can do. You know, with all the "technology" today, and the high prices and everything, I doubt if you bought a brand new tractor today that it would still be around 20 years from now.....much less still going strong 50 years from now. That's what I love so much about these old tractors- they are a testament to what man was capable of at the height of our society amd when we still had the freedom to do what we knew was right. (I'll guarantee that now, there are all sorts of federal laws on the books governing the design of tractors....just like there are for cars....so you couldn't make a good one if you wanted to!)

I take care of 27 acres with my 1949 Ferguson TO-20.
