Does anyone know of any way to prime a oil pump on a 8n that has been sitting up for a few years without being run? If so, can it be done without breaking into the motor? I'm just wondering, it may not even be needed but I thought I would ask anyway.

I drain the oil, change and fill the oil filter then while the drain plug is out I use a suction gun to force oil up the oilpump suction tube. I came up with this after a stuck carb needle and seat drained a tank of gas into the oil pan. After fighting with no oil pressure for two days it made pressure just spinning the engine with the starter (while the plugs were out) after doing as just described.

Rusty,
BG is right about the oil pressure relief valve. Pull the valve out from the front of the motor and give it about 10 squirts with a flexible spout oil can. I also pumped the internal oil journal full from the "Y" oil line junction where the oil pressure guage hooks into the main oil line on the rear right corner of the engine block.

My nickels worth,

Mikey

You can try filling the lines at the filter housing and relief valve. I'd change the oil and filter, fill the filter with oil and then I'd just pull the coil wire and let it crank over a few times and see if the pressure comes up on the gauge.
