We're buying a new computer...

Dude, we're getting a....Dell!

I have to say, that after reading these strings of Dell's topics, I finally made up my mind to dump this Radio Shack thing. I woke up and told the wife: "Dudess, we're getting a Dell!"

Get this; she says to me: "you must have been reading my mind, because I have been thinking about a Dell too."

Life is good. We're getting a Dell...Dude.

Good to hear you guys are getting a Dell, are you aware that part of the cost of your Dell computers goes to anti 2nd amendment groups and that if it seems to Dell that you are in any way associated with firearms or firearm groups, thay will refuse to sell you a computer?

Thought you guys might like to know the policies of the companies with whom you do business andgive your hard earned money to.

I know my next computer sure WON'T be a Dell.

Don't forget...Dell says be sure to get an ORC for that machine. You gotta be careful, with all that power ya might run it right off the desk when ya put the clutch in.

In computers, no offense, but I think Dells are pieces of sh!t. My teachers complain about their school provided laptops. I used to have one, but replaced it with a Compaq. HPs? Nah, I'm fixing my friend's right now. They sell them at K Mart. I use 3 Compaqs and would never have another brand, except for maybe IBM. IBM should be your 1st choice, but they get pricy easy. Then Compaq. (HP bought Compaq so they could steal their technology)

9N'er, you will be happy with a Dell. I have worked with Dell (servers, workstations and laptops) for a long time now and I have no problem recommending them to anyone. I recently purchased one for the warden (wife). I used to build all of my computers (I have 8). But with prices so low I really can't build apples to apples what you can purchase from Dell for Dells price. Plus I really like their site for support and driver/BIOS updates. The biggest thing I would recommend is making sure you keep everything updated and patched, including the BIOS. I would also consider looking on their refurbished site. I recently purchased a 1.2G P4, 512RAM, 40G HDD for less than $700 for a customer (sans monitor). That's a tough price to beat.

Got 2 of 'em. My old Dell went to my daughter. My new Dell went to me. 2.4 ghz processor and supercharged with all the fix'ens. I've yet to have a problem with both. Had the old 333 mhz processor for 5 yrs. The new one is blazing fast. I need all the trimmings for work with my part-time business. I got a wireless network hooked up so my daughter can use the same high speed internet connection that I have through the rough going "Adelphia".

One thing I did with Dell is to pic out a computer. Price it for several weeks until the best deal came up. Each week the prices change cause they offer different discounts and free upgrades. I waited until I get a discount on a processor, free hard drive and DVD upgrade, free CD burner, and free shipping. Saved me a bundle.

Dude..... ...I got 2 Dells. :-)

Have fun with your new Dell dude!!

Tyler, That is despicabley too neat and organized.

What I would remind the guy's about is using you're scanner, printer, cameras etc with Windows XP. I ran into problems when I went to Windows ME (I don't like it) you have to get patches for the software to work. Some patches are not available and if they are it is a real pain in the A$$.

Head Honcho could not get her XP to take Print Shop so she put it on my Windows ME and it took it.

When I tried to put Adobe Photo Shop Elements on this computer with Windows ME, It crashed it. Adobe sent me a new version and told me that happens with Windows ME.

Dave,

I've heard nothing but bad things about the Winders ME OS. I've had no problems with Winders XP. More stable, no blue screens of death. I even loaded it onto daughter's computer w/o any problems. XP is similar to the 2000 OS. Lets you create different users to logon. Nice for the family. XP lets you network computers easily too. Ya just hafta be sure your old peripherals have drivers for the new XP system.

One more thing about Dell Computers. Their support is good.

I was thinking of upgradeing from HP to Dell after the first of the year. I will give this 933 mhz to one of my kids and take thier old one for in the shop.
