Hi All and Thanks for the help, I just got my Sherman Tranny home and am trying to figure out what I have.It looks just like all the combo transmissions I have seen pictures of,but I can't find but two shift positions.Did they make a step down only that looks like the combination tranny? Is there anywhere to look up the serial number to see what I have?It came out of a 9N tractor with the serial # starting with 200,will it fit my 8N?Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, OldeightNer

what you may have is a step up transmission.

Put it in one of the gears and turn the input and see if the out put turns the same as the input and then put it in the other and see if it turns more or less than one to one. If it is more turns out it is a step up and if it turns less it is a step down

I just sold an over/ under direct. They are easy to figure out. Go to the left on the board and go to discussion fourms and link up to nseries.go to aux transmissions and you will find a picture of what you have.At some time the output gear on the sherman changed from a straight cut to bevel gear so you will have to find out what you have.Best of luck Bruce
