I found a 9N FORD Tractor. High/low trans. New tires, carb., starter, clutch. Rebuilt govenor. Excellent mechanically. Needs paint. $1200.

What I really want is a auxiliary tranny that has a low range for my 8N but for the price, if the one on this 9N will fit, I'd buy the whole tractor, take out the hi/lo and resell the 9N. How can I find out if it will fit?

If your not buying it tell Dave Smith where it is at and he will post a picture of it on the Board when he gets it home. Right Dave?

Maybe if it's close by. Around here it would sell for $2500. But I need a 2N, and a 8N side mount to have one of each.

back40..... ..... the original 9N tranny input gear is what is called "straight cut" BUT they changed it sometime during production to "helical cut" (meaning cut on an angle) just like the 8N's input gear. Otherwize, they are interchangeable.

You'd have to take the 9N's tranny cover off to visually inspect. (its rather obvious) Since the 9N tranny cover is also the steering gear box, you have to take the hood off, the frontwheel draglinks...etc...just for a lookie-see..... .....your call, Dell
