My tractor will run fine under a load while brush hogging for up to 10 minutes at a time then will die, but will start again and run for another 10 minutes and die again. I have replaced the spark plugs, changed to an element type air filter, points / condensor, coil, carbeurator, fuel supply does not appear to be a problem. I am baffled and suspect a possible elctrical short since I think I have covered everything else, any ideas I am at my whits end.

Does it stop dead or stutter and die? If it stops dead, I would suspect ignition, bad switch or something on the primary side. If it stutters, gas flow is the likely problem. Check all the filters, it is common for a plugged filter to run awhile then stop and regenerate again. You can open the plug on the carb bottom to see if the float bowl is full, try catching the actual amount of gas that comes out to see if it is actually a full bowl-full. Do it quickly when the stop occurs.

Next time it dies jumper around the key switch and see if that gets it started immediately.
If so...Replace the switch...

I'd guess fuel starvation. How about a plugged gas tank vent? Loosen the gas cap and run for 10 minutes and see if it stops. Check all 3 fuel filters. Tank, Sediment bowl and carburetor elbow. Good luck. Steve 8N 1693202
