Rod..... ...under your tractor seat is a little handle that is not for flushing, it is called the draft/position control lever. Horizontal for draft as in plowing. Vertical for position control as in mowing height control.

Unfortunately, when you are mowing across the pasture with a finishing mower, the natural roughness of the pasture ground is going to bounce your mower. This inturn will shock your internal hydraulic linkages, bending and/or breaking expensive stuff. Therefore, I don't recommend using just the position control as you are asking about.

BUT I gottta secret for you. USE LIMITER CHAINS. These $20 chain kits link from your top 3-point link under yer sitter to the mower's lower 3-point lift pins. Thus preventing the mower from going any lower than what ever length of chain you set. (ie...mower grass height).

Neat things about chains, the collasp when you lift your mower with your hy-trol controler to go over obsticals but will automatically lower rightback down to the height (chain length) you have set to mow at without even looking back to see if'n ya missed nuttin..... ..... .Dell

Rod..... ...Glad you have chains, I flunked mindreading, just ask my ex-wife.

The normal safety rule on all hydraulic supported equipment, is ground it or block it. I'd say that your chains would be the equivalent of a skyhook block..... ....Dell
