Hey Guys!

Whoever it was that suggested hot-gluing a penny to the inside of the strut rod caps to take out excess play, thanks! I did it last night before mowing a 5-acre lot, and it did great!

Thanks again.

Ron

You're welcome!

I'm sure that the FNH dealer could do the same thing for $149.95.....

My nickels (2 cents) worth,

Mikey

I had the same problem in both the 9N and my Fergie 2085 , I used leather from an old pair of work gloves , soaked em in oil for a few days and shimmed up the ends . Wears out after a while , but it stops that damed rattling.---Bill

I wonder why there isn't a grease zerk to lube those things? Seems like they woulda lasted a lot longer..

I think it's because grease attracts dirt.
When mine start to squeak I still give them a shot of oil. Sometimes a squeak is worse than worrying about wear, if you know what I mean.

I think he is revering to the radius rod recievers located near the foot pegs.

After a while they do wear and the radius rod ball ends kind of rattle around in them.

Since most of the wear occurs when the tracor is driving forward, the play can be taken out with a spacer, such as a penny.

Some have spoken about using alluminum (beer) can shims, others use a washer that has been hammered slightly in the center to cup its shape.

Ed,

Sorry for the wrong terminology. You're right--radius rods. Didn't have the FO-4 with me today to clarify...

Sorry I don't know, but it sounds like a good tip to know about.

He is talking about the ball socket and cap that holds the ball end of the Radius Rods. Happy Motoring
