Does the 8n use the same 80-90 E P gear oil in the trans and the hydraulics.

Just a dumb red neck from Mississippi. I just went out and drained the fluid and found out that there is only one fill hole for both trans and hydr. Thanks for responding anyway.

Rocky..... .....your 8N holds 5 gals of Ford/New Holland recommended M2C-134D combo hydro/tranny/diffy oil. One fill up by the tranny shifter and 3 drains. Drain the square diffy first 'cuz it pees innna bucket and doesn't spill all over the floor like the others will, then the 2" hydro, then the 2" tranny.

Of course, you can use the 60 yr old Ford 90wt gear oil spec if you can find it. 80-90wt EP has additives that are not good for your hydraulic pump and tranny bearings. Don't use it..... ..... Dell

"hydraulic pump and tranny bearings" Ok , let's not even talk about the pump because there is some brass/bronze pieces in there and lets go right to the bearings: Why will "EP" gear oil hirt bearings in a N series tranny but not hirt the same type bearings that are in an automotive rearend?????

Thanks

later,dave

I've had 80W-90 GL-5 EP gear oil in my 8n for the last 3 years eating everything in sight. When it burps, I will take it apart and see what it destroyed.
