The sun has turned red here in south western Oregon. We are about 30 miles as the crow flies from a wild fire. A friend about ten miles from here woke up to about 1 1/2" of ash. It is just now begining to rain ash here at my house. Sure looks erie outside. I hope they get it out soon.
Two lightning fires have burned together, One the sourdough & the other is the biscuit. Now it's being caled the sourdough biscuit fire. Realy,LOL

We do not have those fire problems here but everytime i see them on the news they are dropping powder from c-130's to extinguish them .just a thought ,I wonder what would effect a FAI (faye) bomb would have on a large fire? FAI (fuel air implosion) was used extensively in the gulf war.it would have to be delivered from a high altitude when the vapors from the bomb are ignighted it flashes with a huge boom & depletes about one square mile of oxygen.I know when you are talking about that much heat alot of it would flare back up? but it may sucesfully knock some of it out?

Allen, remind you of Mt. St. Helens at all?? I know I'll never forget what that was like.

Levi, your comment about Mt. Saint Helens brought back a flood of memories. I lived in Longview Washington at the time, and it was an experience I will never forget. Hard to believe that was 22 years ago.

Yes levi it does. We didnt get much ash here from St. Hellens but everything that came in from the north was just covered in it.
The temp is cooler now and at least there are no embers in it. I am keeping my fire pager close at hand though. Keep on tractoring. (:<)
