I Loosened The Brake Shoes & Found The Impact Driver I Forgot I Had & It Broke So I Drilled All Four Of Them Out & It Still Didnt Come Off So I Loosened The Big Nut In The Middle & It Came Off With One Hand. Not The Way It Says In The Manual But I Can Have The Other Side Off In Fifteen Minutes Now.Thanks

Ed is right on...If the impact screwdriver don't do it, drill them out and forget them. They are only on there to hold the drums on during the tractor assembly line. I have had them so rusted tight that it was impossible to remove them.

I haven't had to drill one out yet but have remove many with taping them on the outside edge to break the rust loose. That way you can screw another one back in to keep the hole filled and original if needed. Mark H.

I took a chisel that looked right and drove the screw notch backwards for a couple turns.. worked for me..

I grind a punch flat on a angle so that it can hit the side of the screw slot and knock them loose and then unscrew them. Mark H.

Ed, "whang" is a not so obscure colloquialism, listed in Webster's as "To strike as to produce a loud, reverberant noise.", so its use is quite correct. I recall the great Chuck Yeager used it to describe the action of closing the hatch on the X-1, even though he had several busted ribs at the time....(grin).
