I JUST PURCHASED A 12VDC COIL FOR MY '50 FRONT MOUNT. DO I STILL NEED TO THE .6 OHM STOCK RESISTOR PLUS THE .8 OHM AC DELCO RESISTOR? THANKS. PHILIP.

Opinions vary as to what if any resistance you would use with the 12 volt coil. Actually, this information should be supplied by the coil manufacturer but since they are made off-shore in some third world cesspool, they do not have a clue. I would use the existing ballast resistor and that should bring you into the 8 - 10 volt range (points closed.)The way to find out would be to check the system with an ignition scope. Too little resistance and the coil will heat and lower the spark current and possibly damage the coil. Too much resistance would also lower the spark current but will not damage to coil.
