I have a 52 8n with a 2 x 12 plow that I am trying to use...I have a new 14 inch plow and compared the condition of 2x12 to it and the shares/points seem not bad...The wheels are set for 52 inch width..No Stabilizer bars....26 inches on the top link....I have read all the posts on how to set a plow and all that info is great....and sometimes I even succeed in getting some very nice furrows....Sometimes , however it can get VERY frustrating....The problem I have had this last time was that I cannot get the furrow slice to completely turn over ....it seems that they only go over so far and sorta stand on edge.....This makes for some very bumpy discing....I tried some adjustments but I could not fix it...I run the tires up against the furrow wall and have tried moving around a little but a just couldn't get things going right....I know it is difficult to figure out what I'm doing wrong but ANY help/suggestions greatly appreciated...Thanks...Alan

Alan,

Do your plows have any adjustments on the blade itself? I have an old Sears plow 12" not sure of the year but it has adjustments on the blades to stand them more vertical or less vertical for lack of a better term. I had to mess with this adjustment on mine to get the dirt turned all the way over also.

How fast are you plowing? Second gear near full throttle is usually a good starting spot.

Try plowing a little more shallow. It sounds as if you're plowing too deep which would account for the furrows standing on edge. Keep in mind that when these plows were designed , most previous plowing had been done with horses at a depth of 4"-6". A rule of thumb is to plow no deeper the 1/2 your plow width,eg. 12" frame plowing no deeper than 6".
