Dell's explanation of governor function beats what I would have done all to heck. To see if this is your problem disconnect the governor to carb linkage and manipulate the throttle plate by hand. If it runs up could be the governor. If you need to try it under load hook a piece of wire to the carb.

Your mileage may vary

I have never seen it reported on this forum but.. the governor can be defeated from the seat. The throttle lever, at max, can be lifted up (over Stop) and pulled "DOWN" for more travel. It jams the Carb wide open...no governor.. Worked on every 9N-2N-8N i have ever used..

Rene..... ....realize that your hand throttle lever under steering wheel goes thru your governor before it can relay back to your carb throttle shaft. That the relay is affected by the distance between 2 tapered plates that is controlled by the governor balls which are squeezed between the 2 plates and centrifically expanded the speed of the engine drive gear.

So if your governor balls arn't working, your engine won't get the correct amount of throttle. And it takes about 1/3 throttle to successfully start a N-Engine. And if you can't get 1/3 throttle command thru your governors balls, you're gonna haff a hard time starting a cold engine..... ...Dell
