I picked-up a old ford tractor for my wife to use on the farm. The guy I got is from said it was a ford 8N 1954. A friend told me it was a 1952 8N. I looked at the ssn# "N C29 2" and cann't find any refference to that number. It has a Sherman transmition, and a block heater factory installed. any idea's?

Here's a link with info on identifying your tractor. It should help narrow it down, and also includes the location of the serial number which, by the way, can be painstakingly difficult to read. Plan to gently clean the area with a brass brush, get a bright light, and let us know what you find.

According to John Smith the last 8N serial # was 8N524076. Might want to check a little closer. HTH DON TX

looks like what you posted was a casting code. guessing at the number it was manufactured march 29 1952. the actual serial number is on the left side of the block just aft of the oil filter canister up close to where the head and block meet. it will look like this 8NXXXXX .

The 8N was built from 1947 to 1952, starting with serial # 1 and ending with serial # 442035. The NAA model started production after that.
