Can anyone tell me how to bench test a generator for a 9N?

Is there a better diagram for proper use of 3-point hookup than TSC catalogue? I know this really sounds stupid but I don't think I'm using it correct. When I use the post hole digger it just kinda leans at a 45 degree angle....

Willing to sound stupid with you. You are using an adjustable top link with the post hole digger, right? If so yours is too short. If not any tractor shop ought to have one for a catagory one threee point set up. Also should look at sway bars while you are there.

Generator wise the others have it nailed. If it motors it will generate.

Your mileage may vary

Remove belt and run a jumper wire from one side of the cutout to the other. The Generator should motor.

The way I check the generator is, TAKE THE BELT OFF, REMOVE THE WIRES, put a jumper cable on hot battery post, one on ground, to generator housing hot post to "a" post on generator, if it turns fairly fast the generator is working, remove the ground & try again.
If you have an ohm meter, put the belt on, ground "f" post go to "f" post with - lead of meter & "a" post with + lead meter set to (dcv) this will give the generator output volts with motor running should be about 7.5 for 6v system or 14.5 to 20 v for 12v hope this helps.

First, I always use sway bars when using the post hole digger. Second, there should be adjustment holes on the boom so you can raise it to the right height for your tractor. The hand bar is used to start the hole straight.
Just be careful, this is probably the most dangerous attachment to use. Keep clear of the unit so no one get tangled up in it. It takes a while to learn how to use it.
