Hi, I'm trying to find a hydraulic pump shaft which drives the hydraulic pump for the loader on my 1941 Ford 9N. The shaft is splined where it goes into the front of the engine and I'm assuming, is driven by a gear off the transmission. The shaft is 12 inches long and 3/4" in diameter and connects to a flexible 4 bolt flange which drives the pump. The pump mounts to a horizontal flat bar which is part of the framework of the loader. The problem is, the shaft splines are worn down and it won't turn the pump. I've looked for this shaft in the parts dept. but can't find the exact one I need. Is it called a front PTO shaft or something else?

Sounds like you have a Dearborn loader similar to this one. The shaft actually connects to a special adapter on the front crankshaft pulley and is turned by the front of the engine to give "live" pto to the loader.

I would check with the sponsors of this board first, then try some FNH dealers that have been around for a while. Ankeny Tractor in Ankeny, IA had several old Dearborn loaders out back. They have also been around for 58 years so they may have one floating around somewhere.

I would also make sure you check the adapter on the crankshaft for wear. If the shaft has been banging around loosely in there you might need to replace that also. It's available at most FNH dealers and easy to replace.
