I still see lots of old tractors for sale that are lp fueled.I have never driven one or been around one so perhaps some of you guys can clue me in.How long would they run on a tank full say a tractor the size of a N or Super A. How much trouble was they to refuel and what changes had to be made to convert to LP or from LP.Did the engines perform as good or better on LP and did they last longer.I've often wondered why anyone would buy one..Thanks R.M. With a well tuned LP system engines run smoother and much cleaner than with gasoline. The conversion is expensive and heres a big item, if you are looking at a a tractor from the 50's or 60's, possibly even later, check the maker of the system and check to see if parts are available for it. Even some factory bult LP tractors have systems for which the builders no longer exist and new parts are no longer available. In the 50's, 60's & 70's, LP fuel was a cheaper alternate, I doubt that is true today. If you buy one, make sure you have another LP unit for system parts availability. Your local gas company can give you LP cost and consumption info, likely they have LP powered trucks and pickups today.
