just purcashed a 12 volt cnv. kit and tried to hook the wires up according to description. now i have no juice going to the distributor. i had a rigged up tractor before and had no resistors - now i have both 8ne10306 and a8nn12250a resistors and no idea if i hooked them up correctly.
does anyone have an idiots diagram for this conversion and do i need both resistors?
any ideas?
i do have an ignition(keyed switch) and a push button starter.

Pacu..... .....I hate it when I have to guess wheather your tractor is a sidemount or frontmount ignition system because the wiring requirements and techniques are different.

But I'm gonnna guess that you have a OEM 6 volt frontmount ignition because..... ..you quote a p/n 8N-12250-A resistor.

This is the "infamous ballast resistor" mounted on the backside of the early frontmount 8N dashpanel. This then implys that p/n E-10306 resistor is a 12-6 volt converting resistor (I'm guessing here) to be used with the OEM 6 volt frontmount ignition coil.

BOTTOM LINE, If what I have described is indeed the case, then both resistors must be used and connected in series, just like flashlight batterys. You may mount your 12-6 converting resistor anywhere you wish, but remember it gets hot and can melt plastic wire insulation. Most connect it somewhere close to the frontmount coil terminal wire. Do secure it so it doesn't bounce around..... .....Dell

Start checking for voltage back to the dash. Seems like I remember the resistors are 1 way. I maybe wrong.HTH

Pacu, I am not familiar with those resistor numbers. Did they come with the kit? Are you using a 6 volt coil or a 12 volt coil? The link below will take you to wireing diagrams.
