No juice past coil

i have a front mount distributor 8n that i'm converting to 12volt- rewired so i have juice going to the coil and check the springlike contact on bottom of coil for power and got a spark but that's as far as it goes.
any suggestions.
have a .015 gap and it is opening and closing.
how do i check condenser or rotor with the dang thing put together.

You may have burned out the secondary of the coil if you did not reduce the 12 v thru both resistors, a dropping resistor from 12 to 6 and the infamous heat sensitive variable resistor on the dash. You can judge the working of the primary circuit by watching the ammeter, it should wag back and forth as the points open and close and the capacitor is not shorted or open.
