If I'm going to paint it, I want to do it original. Going thru the message board I found one specific mention of the correct color for a 9N. NAPA Martin Senour Ford Grey #6019. I also read that the better paint is PPG and Dupont. Can someone give me the final word on the correct paint by mfg and #? Also, are there some specific parts of the tractor that are another color or is it all the same color?
thanks

6019 is it. You could ask NAPA to let you get a sample and then take it to PPG for color matching to their product. The PPG dealer will use the Prophet (color analysis) device to get the color. Be sure to buy a couple of NAPA 1010 oil filters in return for their help.

i would not use use the martin senour grey from napa. I used it and my 9n is almopst a grey white buff rather than the darker grey. There is information about paint in the archives and tractor photos to locate and read but don't use the napa paint. Ed

I found this below, but it only lists the NAPA and Rustoleum which I guess to be in a spray can.

Rick,
I'll let others comment on the paint-I'm going to have mine matched to the original by someone.
Chester Peterson & Rod Beemer published a book called the Originality Guide-Ford N Series Tractors. If you can't get it, in short it is all gray except,
any wires or rubber-unpainted
spark plug tube & gas tank-unpainted, cadmium plated
Rear rims-originally zinc plated, most today paint them silver.
radiator-black
knobs on shifter and hydraulic control-chrome
They list the radiator cap and battery cover knob as chrome, or even gray for the battery cover. The 2N and 8N had a black radiator cap, and I've even seen the battery cover knob as black-your choice.
