I have a 1939 9N, I have replaced the wiring, plugs including wiring, distributor cap and rebuilt distributor, new ignition coil, new battery, starter switch, ect....I am using a simple light tester to see if I am getting power at various locations, I am not getting power at the connection point , only at the resistor where the wire connects from the front mounted ignition coil terminal or at the ignition coil or at the generator side of the cut out relay and at the generator, any suggestions, I am guessing I have a bad resistor and maybe a bad cut out relay....

Any, >>>>I am not getting power at the connection point , only at the resistor where the wire connects from the front mounted ignition coil terminal or at the ignition coil<<<

If the connection is the "Pigtail", at the base of the COIL, and your points are Closed.. this would be normal.

Open your Points and put your Test light on the Pigtail.. should light.. If not you have a short in the Dist.. Most likely around the Pigtail Concave Screw.

Hope This Helps

Any..... ....very good. power at one side of the infamous ballast resistor and no power at the coil side of the ballast resistor. conclusion "bad resistor". go to the head of the class. (grin)

As for the cut-off relay. You should have lite at the battery side and NO LITE at the generator side when the engine is not running. Take a victory lap..... ....Dell
