Dell, I just gotta ask you about this one. Our back-up 9N just quit one day, going up hill, and acted like it ran out of gas. Cleaned carb, changed plugs, cleaned carb, checked compression, cleaned carb, changed coil and tune up, CHANGED CARB, still nothing, finally my nephew pulled off the muffler, and the carb and blew out the manifold. Re-attached the carb and it started. I know the manifold was blocked but did it come down the muffler, and get sucked in or come out of the valves and get blown out? Very cornfused Ron

I had the same experience with a newly overhauled engine and an old exhaust pipe I bought at a sale that I thought was new! The thing would not even try to start until I loosened the tail pipe and then perfect. I then reconnected it and blew out whatever was in there by exhaust pressure. I never did find out what it was but was amazed at how it completely shut down a newly overhauled engine!

Ron..... ..since the N-Muffler is a straight thru pipe, varmints have been know to crawl up thru the exhaust pipe, and quite possibly make it all the way to the exhaust valves which arn't open wide enuff for them to continue. You ain't got some young'uns stuffing 'taters up your tailpipe for a big joke on you?..... .....Dell, the flunked mindreading psysche

Dell, Mice can get past a open valve. Believe it or not. I bought a Lincoln 337 ci flathead V8 that the mice got into a cylinder and draged in enough cotton (From a seat I think) to fill the cylinder up. The exhaust was off the engine but the manifolds were there.
Ball up a drier sheet and put it in the end of the pipe. Mice don't like the odor from them. Do not pack it in. just loose so if you forget it the exhaust will blow it out. It works for me.
