Can anyone tell me where to purchase a new original schock absorber for my 8N seat?

I dont know about a sChock absorber, but I found a shock at a Mack dealer, they matched it up off the shelf, The man I bought it from said it was a discontinued shock that had been there so long it was not in enventory. fit fine and works but it does not have a dust cover only the body with an eye attached to the stem opposite the body!!

Hey Roger. Someone here did some research on this a while back, and shared the following info about the Monroe E-Z-Ride Seat:

Monroe E-Z-Ride Comfort Seat Option

I tried last spring to find this shock with no luck. My shock had stamped the following information:
Monroe Auto Equipment Company
Monroe, Michigan USA
patent number 2,004,380 & 2,078,364
10B8
OF6-E1
18144

Dimensions of the shock follow:
6.38” compressed center to center
8.00” extended center to center
2.06” large cover diameter
1.68” small body diameter

Retaining ends are as follows:
1.44” OD
1.00” BORE
0.94” WIDE

The number for Monroe is 1-800-879-0540

I also tried a couple of different auto stores with no luck. I finally just painted the old one and put it back on.

I did replace the rubber bushing with some pieces I got from NAPA. The rubber bushings were 2-piece rubber snubbers, number 215 for 0.62 shoulder bolt. I did have to modify the rubber pieces to fit the taper inside of the shock mounting bore.

The Monroe E-Z Ride spec sheet I have doesn't list any dimensions. But it does have part #'s.
9N/8N #16041
NAA #16074

Monroe also made seats for: AC, Case, Corbitt, Co-op, Custom, Farmcrest, Ferguson, Gibson, IH, Inter-Continental, JD, Long, Massey-Harris, MM, Norse, Ostenberg, Oliver, & Sheppard. The brochure states they sold over 600,000 in 4 years.

Hope this helps..... ..... .Ed

Were the original shocks patterned after an existing automobile shock? Has anyone ever asked at the link below? I don't have the answer either.

I contacted Monroe with all the data and they could not help. I contacted several air-ride seat mfg's and they could not help. They are very similar to the shocks in some air-ride seats, but I haven't been able to track down a source yet.
