My 8n will not start, the solenoid will click once with each push of the starter. The tractor does not turn over. The amp gauge needle does not move when the key is turned on, it used to ,but will when the lights are turned on.Please advise. Thanks Rick T.

I had a similar problem and took Dell's advice about keeping all connections shiny and bright. Removed the cable connections to the starter, cleaned them with an abrasive to get them to shine and reconnected them. The starter went right to work like it should. This is the cheapest test and should be done first.

I would check and make sure the starter is not locked up. Put the tractor in 3rd or 4th gear and rock the tractor back and forth. This will unstick the starter if it is locked up.

Good luck,
Jim

As said batt., cables, or a bad starter switch.
You can hot wire it to bypass the switch if you know how. Remember when you were a kid? Ah, maybe I was a bad kid.

YOu have a dead battery or your cables are bad. A voltmeter will show you where you lose the 6v. Clicking solenoids always mean low voltage to them.

dead battery, old bAttery, dirty battery posts, dirty battery cables, not makN contact.. wiring needs to be cleaned. .New battery? needs chargN.. check volage regulator..strictly electrical ..Got a voltmeter,? How about one of those batter testers?

$42 bucks will get U a New battery, but if your chargN system isN't up to par..uh, well. ok
