Almost done restoring my 51 8n and am getting around to some of the smaller items. My rear worklight is original but is burnt out. When I took it apart I discovered that the light is not a sealed beam but it does not have a replaceable bulb. It appears the bulb was originally soldered into the back of the lamp. It is stamped TRACTO-LITE on the lens and also has a FORD logo on the lens, Does anyone know if there is a way to modify this to accept a bulb or if there is anyone that carries a replacement.I would like to keep the TRACTO-LIGHT lens for originality.
THANKS
Ole

Ole,
I have in the past unsoldered old bulb and replaced and resolder with new bulb using a 6 volt bulb with single element. Bulb is the same as the back up light used on your older model cars.

Well.. if it is indeed soldered in... then it can be unsoldered.. Then all you need to do is find a suitable light ( 6v right? ) and make it fit in the housing. You might need a few scraps of tin to make mounting hardware with for the new light if it has a smaller base diameter, etc.. or even enlarge the hole.

A dremel tool, or patience with a file, and a small propane torch seem like the right tools.

Never done this myself.. but don't see why it can't be done.

Remove any orings, or seals in the 'non-sealed' beam ( behind the lense? )if any are present... don't want to melt them.

let us know how it went / goes.
