Anyone know about these?

They used to have one for the old Ford where my dad worked. I stopped by there and none of the old crew is there any longer and the new guys say there is no such thing. I think it got tossed out or stollen.

It was a simple implement that worked pretty well and would allow you to cut pretty long strips of sod from level areas...and a lot easier to use than a Sod Kicker.

Since it was so simple I souldn't think that it would be too expensive...but I have not seen or heard of one around my area. I believe the one I saw was made by Ford.

Any ideas on where to get one? Or is this something I fabricate?

Thanks.

-Sal.

I would fabricate one, you could use casters to limit the depth of dig. also, you could use a blade from the kicker type sod cutters, I can get you the tel number to the guy who manufactures the sod kicker, if you would like it.

Sal, I have an old one out by the barn. It would not be too hard to make one. I'll try to find time to take some pictures and email you direct today. I don't have a place to put them up.

Sal,

I have thought about cutting the bottom rear portion out of my pond scoop for use as a sod cutter. I just never got around to it yet. I envision a slide in back panel for use as both a pond scoop and sod cutter.

One of the best impliments I have. I have used it to dig asparagus beds, carry dirt from an area I disced good to level a high spot, and ABUSED it by backing it into a dirt pile while raising. Also good for carrying rocks from an old rock fence, if you work it right you can just back up under them and get them in the scoop (sometimes).

That is an interesting Idea. Sounds like it will work.

It's an idea to put on the drawing board.
