I started working on my 8n Friday morning. I rebuilt the carb and steering box. I replaced the drag links along with new tie rod ends and ball joints. Also, there are now new spark plugs, cap, rotor, condensor, points, plug wires, and exhaust. The tractor seems like someone elses.

I spent $500 dollars on it and the wife is....believe it or not....happy. It is very easy to turn. Runs smooth as can be. She rode around on it all evening singing the theme song "Greene Acres".

Thanks to everyone who answered questions.

Ron

Now if you're REALLY good, you can talk her into another tractor so that you both have one...

It's amazing how far $500 goes in an N compared with a car!

Be careful. Spent several months getting one running good. Bought a JD 513 bush hog. Wife not really fussing much about the money. Got to use it twice. Can't get the wife off the thing. Kind of like a couple kids with a fun ridding toy. Got 2 tractors but there is something about hogging down heavy brush. May need another bush hog. Good luck.

Hi Ron, Glad to hear of your success story. When you spend that much money on new parts, usually everything works out for the best, and your wife is happy. Good story, Cheers, Murray
