I am having problem with dust cover going over spring that sits under rotor. It almost seems as if the distrib. sahft is too short but the cam retainer is there?? I did have to force the clips over the dist cap after dust cover was in place.

I just tried one of the covers on my dist.,they will ony work IF you remove the rubber gasket.I think they made the rubber gasket too thick. You can ship it back if that don't work and I'll not sell them any longer. don

I had trouble with mine after a tune up. I think my replacement condenser was slightly bigger than the original. I was able to get mine together after whacking the condenser a little to make it fit better in the dist. housing, also bending the spring bails down slightly made them fit.

ED-

There is an afterthought piece of round moulded plastic (same diameter as dist cap) that fits just under your rotor (sidemount dist's) that acts to prevent dust/carbon from dropping into your dist and fowling points or getting into the bearing areas. It's cheap and a good idea (don b/New Holland).

It should go together with no problem. Only thing I can think is your rotor is not correctly on the dist shaft.
