I am looking to buy a replacement set of rims for my 8n. The previous owner put the new 6 bolt type on that you can see through. Is there any advice as to where I can get the original type or if there is a reason to stay away from them? Someone told me that the old type collects rainwater in them and causes rust through. I am restoring it to original and plan to garage it.

Thanks

I contacted a wheel manufacturer about making some of these and I haven't gotten back to them with a rim for them to use as a model. Until I strike oil in the back yard or win the lottery so I can get these made, your best bet is watch ebay or check the boneyards. I have one extra rim, but it doesn't quite match the others I have. It may have been an early 9n or 2N rim. It looks pretty much the same on the outside but the dimensions are a little different inside.

Rick..... ....original 8N rear rims are commonly called "hat section" rims and are scarce as hens teeth because most of 'em are cancer victims of leaky Calcium Choloride watered innertubes for additional weight for traction. Rainwater has nothing to do with it. Sorry, I don't know of any source for original rear rims..... ....Dell

I am not referring to the flat or old "hat" style, but rather what you see on most 8n's. Unfortunately, my 8n has an old rim like I have on my '53 Jubilee and also a new type rim that attaches with 6 bolts. Kind of looks like a large version of the front wheels.
