I just bought a couple of quarts of New Holland paint. I think it is enamel but I'm not sure and I can't tell if it is alkyd or acrylic or something else. The label is of no help and the guys at the counter weren't sure either but thought it was enamel. My real question is what type of hardener do I need to use with this paint and where can I get it. The new Holland dealer doesn't sell hardener. Can someone please help me? Thanks again.

There is nothing like a lazy parts guy, I've fired a few of them.
I guarantee you they can find out if they wanted to. I wish I could tell you but I haven't used NH paint yet. If no one here knows there is a Paint Forum...just go to the top of this page and click on ..All The Rest..

I have used the NH paint because of the good color match. It's good. But the NH paint is pre-thinned so you can brush it on if you want, so one quart doesn't go very far. If you spray it, it's reduced 8 parts paint to one part thinner. It's enamel so use a reducer that is appropriate for the temperature you are spraying in. When in doubt on temperature, go with the reducer made for the next higher temperature, or you will get a lot of orange peel. Use a hardner (reducers and hardners are available at NAPA, but try to stick with one brand) and add at the rate of 1 part hardner to 8 parts REDUCED paint. Fisheye eliminater as suggested by the other post is good prevention. After you are done mixing the ingredients, make sure you use a paper paint strainer/filter to pour thru into your paint cup. Suggest you use an HVLP gun or you are going to get all kinds of dust glitches. And be sure to go over the part again with Final Clean while wearing clean rubber gloves. My $.02
