'52 8N. Starter drive (bendix) lock spring and spring anchor plate have come off of the starter shaft and are loose somewhere inside of things. Have swept reachable areas with flexible magnet.

Where might they have gone? Can I retreive them without a split? If they stay there can they cause major havoc?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll leave those parts where they lie for now. The new bendix is enroute. We should be back to work in a couple days.

Thanks again.

I fished those same parts out of mine with a magnet on a coat hanger wire. They were farther back in the housing than I at first thought.
Like the others said, it probably isn't worth the time to fish them out. Took me five minutes once I had the magnet made up.

Yeah, they'll probably be okay sittin' in the bottom of the housing. Happens more than you think.

Rick,
Would you believe that there is plenty of room in the housing for "extra" parts? I don't think that I would worry about it too much (unless you are performing acrobatics with your N). Leave them in there until you need to split the tractor for some other reason.
