I'm about to mount the generator on this rebuild and its rear end hits the oil filter canister. I've got the generator mount that grips the shell of the generator and adjusts from the water pump backing plate. Does any body have a picture better than page 70 in the parts manual. Or did I get a new head for the 48 to 50 rather than 50 to 52. The oil canister needs to be about an inch further back where its set. serial #314426. Good to see an honest resolution to the copyright contraversy. Thanks, Prentice

The new head should have had both sets of holes, where did you get it?

Scott: I got the head, rather the rebuild at a local tractor repair shop, don't understand why, didn't ask why he didn't bill me for the new head. Now I know why it looked so clean. I knew it was new, now I'm thinking the pulley is big, curious though, I remember the generator set out past the hood in the weather. Question on the 2nd set of holes, are they plugged or do they miss the water jacket. I think I might get a really sharp drill bit and a bowl of Wheaties and move the holes aft. Thanks, Prentice

If it was a resurfaced head that explains it, it was from an early tractor, new heads work for both, I do not know if there is enough metal in the head to drill beside the holes so you do not go through into the water jacket.

Unless I'm confused, which is becoming a normal thing for me, you may want to make sure the pulley is on correct. If it's on backward, it will make the generator sit about an inch farther back in order for the belt to lign up. There should be a pin in the mounting bracket that fits into a hole on the generator. This keeps everything lined up. I found this out on my 51. The old boy that had it before me, had got the pulley on backward and then removed the pin from the bracket to make everything lign up. Hope this is some help. Good Luck!!!
Dave

Bolt the oil filter to a piece of flat stock. Then drill holes where you need and move to the rear a little farther.

Sounds like you got a front mount dist. head on your side mount motor. Bummer to say the least. Dave.
