Years ago there was Liquid Wrench! Until I recently drove over a can of Mopar Manifold Heat Riser Lubricant given to me by a plumber friend, I was all set. This stuff worked great! Chrysler dealer recently told me he never heard of it. Does anyone have a super duty penetrant that works well on those rusty old bolts on N series tractors? All replys greatly appreciated!

Arthur,

A couple others have said this and I will say it to KROIL is the best. I am a machinist and have worked on tons of machinery that have broken bolts, studs, drills, taps, EZ-outs you name it and I have tried them all. My company found this KROIL several years ago and we started selling it and I will add with almost 100 percent removable success rate, of course when all else fails there are other methodes for removable. If you want some let me know I think it sells for somewhere around $10 to $12 per 12 ounce can in spray form. It's worth every penny at that.

I have had good success with Apple Cider Vinegar, doesn't lubricate but busts rust pretty good.

I use a product called "Knock'er Loose". Can't say it's the best cause I haven't tried the other products listed in the other posts, but I sure like it. Used it on the Yokes of two 8Ns, and they came off pretty well without allot of heat. NAPA sells it here in my part of the sticks, Wyoming.

Arthur
Surprisingly, water is probably the "best" penetrant available. That's how all that rust gets inside the nuts etc. Unfortunately, it has virtually no lubricating properties whatsoever. FWIW

I like the PB Blaster too. I started using it about a year ago when a salesman gave me a freebie and have been hooked on it ever since. I still use WD 40 when I want the silicone touch but the Blaste is best to lubricate and loosen rust.
Nothing will beat a good rose bud and acetylene and oxygen for the really rusted stuff though.

Try to find some stuff called "Kroil", from Kano Labs. This stuff is *The Best*, hands down. I think you can find it at auto parts stores, and other places. If you have a gun shop nearby, you might try there, as a lot of competitive shooters use it for bore solvent also. I don't have their website address handy, but I'll find it and post it here.

If you thought WD40 was good wait until you get your hands on a can of KROIL. I used it on some locked up press wheel spindles on my JD planter and almost instantly, they were freed up. I think it is expensive but worth it. Auto Zone parts stores spray lubricant in a blue can is better than WD40 if you ask me, been using it about 2 years, stuff works great! It is also $1.29 a can while the same size of WD40 is $2.29. It really smells a lot like Diesel fuel, and the number one ingredient is Kerosene a sort of a cousin to diesel. I suppose kero. or Diesel works good for soaking rusted parts for long periods at a time. I reccomend to give it a shot!

Art, The mechanics where I work swear by CaseIH penetrating oil, the call it "panther piss" and prefer it over other brands. When I waded in my first resto; a '46 2n, I used it and it worked great! Pete

He was asking about a penetrating lubricant, not lubricating penetrator! Hmmm, Maybe ol' Bill could help out with either.
