We have about 6 inches of new snow and temp is about 0 F. My 9N will not start! I still have the 6V system and it has been working fine. When I jumped it with 12 v the starter turned over for a while. I removed the started and the drive was bad replaced it put battery on trickel charge for 3 days (6v) and then went to start. Will not click. The starter worked on the bench! The wiring is off! The Cable from the started is hocked up to the neg on bat. + is hooked up to resistor block. I am lost at this point. It is outside had -50 F when I took starter off.

think you need to take a serious look at a wiring diagram
if the system is straight six volts the positive battery terminal is grounded and the negative hooks to the cold side of the starter solenoid.
if the solenoid doesn't click [audible click] and the starter turns on the bench try putting a jumper cable from the negative battery terminal to the positive side of the solenoid. if the starter turns--make sure trans is in neutral because this bypasses the safety switch and your tractor may eat you--then you have the problem cornered

I have an 8N, negative is hooked to the started, the positive goes to frame ground. There are many archives sites on this board that shows the correct wiring hook ups, better check them and your connections for good contact. I don't believe that the "pos" goes to the resistor?
