Posted this question in the Ford forum and got no response. Maybe someone here can help. (I have already searched the archives, but with no luck)
Have an 861 with live pto. This past week-end the hydraulic lift lever began dropping if it was in a part-way up position. It will stay in the full-up position by itself. Until this week-end the lever would hold at any position. I don't want to tear into it without knowing what to look for. Your advice is appreciated. Rikiz

Rikiz:

I had the same type of problem on my 4000. In my case there is a large cork washer behind the lift lever base that restricts free movement of the lever and keeps it in place. I believe this material is cork or something similiar. Anyway, this material has cracked and pieces have fallen out. I tightened the lift lever nut and made do. Check for that on your tractor before taking it to the shop...

Thanks for the input. I will look at it tomorrow evening. Hopefully, that's all it will be.
