If the snipers are found guilty after we have paid for them a battery of lawyers, what should the punishment be?...R.M. In AL.

This would take a lot longer. How about having them nibbled to death by ducks?

How about locking them in a room with about 400 hungry hogs?

I remember a story by Larry Niven in which he observed that "...cruel and unusual crimes require cruel and unusual punishments", and another by Robert Heinlein where the perpetrator of a crime was made to suffer the same injury, for the same amount of time, as the person he had injured. As such, I suggest that they be suitably restrained and then shot, thirteen times, with a soft-nosed .223. After each shot they should be taken down, hauled off to a hospital, fixed up, given time to heal...and then taken out and shot again. And again. And again. If by chance they should die during punishment...well, they had as good a chance as those they shot...

O.K., That's why I suggested nibbling to death by ducks. Much less violent...but much more painful for much longer. I'll second the motion.

If I remember-that Heinlein story was a situation in one of his last books about a hit-run driver (in an alternate America ) who is run over by cops and allowed to languish without medical help for as long as his victim did. As I read it Heinlein was against this sort of thing, not for it.
As for these snipers, strap 'em to a gurney and put them down with no mercy and no solace. Do it quickly, scatter their ashes and leave the vengeance to God.

First I tie the big toe of each foot to opposite ends of my draw bar. Then I drag them nude in this spread eagle position through a field of bull nettle, blackberry brambles, wild rose, thistle, and fire ants. After which, tie them back first, arms pulled around a big oak tree (better yet a honey locust) thereby facing forward, and let anybody in the US who wants to assist take 5 shots each from 10 yards with a Daisy Red Rider. Then, while still nude, make them run a 1,000,000 man gauntlet of cattle prods. Then we clean them up in a bath of salt water followed by a rinsing of rubbing alcohol. Then we send them to Guantonamo Bay, strap them over a barrel, throw them in a room with all those couped up prisoners along with a case of K-Y. Video tape the whole thing, then patch it into Al-Kazear (sp.) so the whole Moslem world can see just what the "noble" jahad warriors really are. After they are all done, C-147's drop several million gallons of gas on the whole place, and throw in a match.

I live in Montgomery County, MD. Just dropped off my car for servicing at the dealership where the poor guy mowing grass was shot on the first day. Very sad. What a relief it is to be able to buy gas without having to wonder if your will is up to date. I kinda wish I had been the guy who spotted them.

Michael Bouchard, special agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco, said a Bushmaster XM-15 rifle found in Muhammad's car had been linked by ballistics to 11 of the 14 Washington-area shootings, including one in which no one was injured.

Sources told Fox News that the pair were planning another sniper attack when they were captured. The sources also said a hole was cut in the trunk of the car, which contained a platform that could be shot from, making it possible that several of the shootings were executed from the trunk.

Just curious why Malvo's fingerprints were found on a piece of papaer left at the scene of the ALabama shooting? Coincidence that a 17 year old drop out from Bellingham, WA was at the same place where a simial modus operandi was used to kill one person and shoot a hole in the neck of another person? Rick

Pull hisd head off, one vertebrae at a time until his eyes pop out and he's crying asking for his Momma.

First I would send him to prison for a 6 month vacation with Bubba and his buddies. Then I would send him to the place where they execute people and force him to watch them jiggle and wiggle while 40,000 volts course through their brains down to their toes.

Then I would put him in the same chair and have several false starts with the elctricity.

Then I would hang him up in a rack and flesh him like they did to POW's in vietnam.

Then I would pull his head off. But I would do it to Muhaamad guy first and make the 17 year old watch it he is next in line.

If you mean the weapon used in Ala, they said it was a pistol.

As to punishment, if you're not going to go the humane route, then I think an N tied to each arm and leg heading for four different points of the compass would be nice.

Life in prison, breaking rocks, 14 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in the far north of Alaska. Or if they can't abide the first option I volunteer to flip the switch that sends them to the eternal celestial dirt nap that they really deserve!

They aren't worth the cost of the taxpayers to feed them; I vote for a quick dispatch out of this life. Side Note: My uncle served on firing squads in WWI; he said he could always tell when he had the bullet because the kickback was different than the blanks.
