I know this ain't the place, but anybody have any ideas on how to take the angle scrapeblade off the back of my 8N, and attach it to the front of my '51 willys jeep, and move snow with it?
There's gotta be a way to put a three point hitch on that old jeep, that way I can use some of the same implements.
BTW, I've been reading this message board for three years now, all the time at work, and thats where big brother watches over your every move. We can read, but we can't post. Now I retire from the military in 46 days, have my own computer, and love life. Now if I could just find a job!

But, you guys have kept my old toys running for those three years, and for that I thank you.!

Well I'll have to second the congradulations on the 46 days you have left and admit that I'm also active duty and have three and a half to go.I have just bought the 8N I have and last year bought my 851D from a carolina pig farmer that had years of abuse and I have been loving it back together and I have an allis CA.The funny part is I'm on a little over two acres in a city neighborhood.. ha ha ha but I'm sure having fun and as long as I can avoid pcs orders I'll be all good... take care mike

Congratulations on the retirement. I thought I was the only active duty military tractor "N"ut on here. I have 20 1/2 years in the service now, but my first 5 were in the reserves, so I have to hang on 4 1/2 more years. I can't wait until I can say I have 46 more days...

So, almost retired? how would that be. If you are looking to move and need a Quality Control Job with the Febs, send me an email. We need several folks at the GS-9/11 level. If you worked as an aircraft mechanic, electrician, etc you will qualify to start at the 11 level. Just a thought. Position is in Utah. Good hunting. Now, what I've seen with the 51 willies, normaly you pull them with the tractor(humor). I wouldn't have a clue, but you would need some type of winch set up to raise and lower your blade, it would be easy to do. If I could drawn on this board I would show you how I would do it. Picture this in your mind. Arms holding 2 pts of blade, top link would be a support with a pulley with a cable coming from the 3rd point hook up through the pully (tall to be heigher than the 3rd point hook up on the blade) then the pully going down to your winch. when you retract the cable it causes the blade to raise lower it would cause to drop down. Hope this helps.
P.S
About the job, look on the federal job sights and look for QA positions listed for Utah.

There are(were) 3 pt. attachments for the Willys.
These are very hard to find today.
You need a PTO going to the rear, a PTO gear box to attach above the rear bumper, support frames to bolt on the back bed, 3pt, arms to attach to the frame and the implements.
I was a fool and sold a complete set-up with a 48 Willys and the fellow scraped it all.
I will try and send you a site that at least shows some of the implements.
In the late 40's, these were the "other" workhorses that a lot of farmers used "other than the N".
I am a Willys nut along with my N.

YES!!! that is one of the set-ups. Yours used a pump (I think) to raise and lower everything. Some of the otheres used a mechanical set-up as well as a pump off the 3 pt.
It is good to see there are some of these still around..
