That snow we just got here in S.W. Missouri was officially 14.4", the fifth largest ever recorded. I spent this morning on the 8N and had a great time. First I cleared the concrete apron in front of our garage, then the driveway all the way down to the road. Then I cleared snow from around my (supposedly) 4wd Chevy Pickup, seen in the photo background, which I got stuck in our side driveway yesterday. Then I got a chain on the pickup and pulled it out with the tractor. Then I cleared our side driveway all the way to the barn and put the pickup away.

Next, I noticed that my neighbor down the road had his old Allis Chalmers tractor stuck in a ditch. We put a short chain on my plow blade, and I was actually able to lift and pull him out with the 8N. While doing that, a Dodge van passed us on the road and then proceeded to get buried in the ditch. I pulled those folks out too.

These "N's" may be antiques, but they'll still do an honest days work. That was fun.

Sam;

I can't believe nobody mentioned what a nice looking tractor you have. I take it you keep it inside or under a shed. Did you take a photo before you pushed the snow off? looks like it would have been a great setting. Again, very nice looking tractor.

Regards
Bill

Make sure you tell everyone you help, your not responsible for any damage that might occur. A friend of mine helped someone, bent the bumper, got a notice for small claims court, had to pay.
Yes, there are still jerks in the world.

I know you're right. Our town has a long, gentle hill right next to the school where kids have sledded on "snow days" for maybe 150 years. Many generations of landowners have kept that field mowed and unfenced just for the kids. In our modern society, you can see where this story is leading.

Sure enough, last year a kid broke his wrist and the parents sued. They didn't get any money, but now the hill has been cross-fenced and bears "no trespassing" signs. Another tradition is lost, and as you say, there are lots of jerks in the world. I really ought to quit pulling people out of ditches, but I'll probably keep on doing it.

Sorry to hear bout the sledding. I still pull people, but I make sure they understand. My wife travels alot, and I hope that someone will stop and help her if she has problems. Thats why I still do it too.

Sam,

Did you collect the "usual and customary" fees for pulling people out of snow drifts?

I remember when I lived S. Central Mo, people used to get like $20 for that in the mid 70's. I wonder what they get now.

Dave - I got "what the little boy shot at"!

That guy in the Dodge van spun his tires so furiously while I was pulling him out, I was seriously worried that he was going to hit me. Then as soon as I unhooked the chain they drove off without a "thank you" or even a wave.

Well, it was fun anyway. - Sam

So where were you when I had to shovel my drive after the plow went by? My N is in need of a lower link pin repair and leaked out all the fluid :(

I can relate to having fun this morning. I live close to the Kansas City Mo. area and we got about 6" or so. This morning before the wife got up I went out and fired up the Jubilee. Hooked up the blade and had the driveway looking pretty good before she could tell me ( We have 4x4's You don't need to do that ) .. Course I knew I didn't HAVE To do that. But it was there and I was up and well you know the rest.

The wife watches me pretty close Because I had a pretty major back surgery in Sept. and Nov. It's very hard not to do something that needs done.

It sure was good to get back in the saddle again.
