It is nice to start a tractor without wondering if it will start or not. Have the 841 with Elenco front end back from the shop and hard at it (when time allows) degreasing it and fixing minor seals and leaks. Rebuilding power steering pump ,replacing hydraulic lines, rear brake seals, and replacing the seal for the hydraulic pump.

Also need to figure out why the left side jumps and rolls a bit while scooting down the road in 4th. Front left tire seems out of round and rear tires are new and seem to be seated ok. Me thinking front tire is the culprit.

Need advice on the steering: she wants to meander left and right too and not straight. Ideas or suggestions about that? Not much play in the steering wheel.

Boy she sounds good and strong with new motor in it.

Rebuilt motor, tranny, clutch, rear end, cooling, lift, and exhaust. New head, oil and water pumps too.

Runs really fine and starts on a dime.

What a monster though....without any sheetmetal on it, she looks like a brute with that front end. Will take some pics soon and post.

Got to run. 9N'er

Mr. 9N'er: Gosh, shouldn't ask this on the N board, but don't you want to grin when you crank up the bigger one? I remember back in 1955 (yikes, almost 50 years ago!) when the dealer brought a new 860 to our farm to try for 2 days. At the time we had 8Ns on 305 acres. Imagine! We were forever unhappy until we got bigger power. Now I've got Jub and 841 just to play with. Mike-Iowa

Hey, interesting message. There is a big difference between the put put of the 9N and when this large bore carburetor 841 172 fires up. Throttle it up and she rips with sound. 15x28 tires on the rear and gripper rubber on the front, and this thing is fun to drive.

Check the alignment. If it's even to toed out, she will chicken chase. Should be toed in about 1/8 inch. I go to the rims, tires vary too much.

Sounds like a nice tractor!

Never heard that term before but perfectly discriptive. Good one, Arne. Steve 8N 169302

Thanks Steve. I grew up on a potatoe farm in Colorado. We had old Dodge trucks that were real good at it. ;-)

Makes sense. 4WD front end on this tractor is surplused Dodge Power Wagon from that era/vintage.
