I use it too! Actually joined back when it was free. Now, I'm paying a few bux/month to host pix. Not a bad deal! The pic above is on the site! I highly recommend it! It has a neat way to get URLs for posting pix here and other sites that allow pic posting! A great site!!

We used to call that a "headgate" and ours were slightly newer than this one. If you weren't quick enough when the cow came up the chute and your managed to catch her by the hips, well then we had numerous other names for that device.

I couldn't begin to count how many thousands of times I've used that thing.

Looks to me like what I used to use when I milked goats. Set the pan of grain on the other side and use the headgate set up to keep them on the stand.

Actually, it's a multipurpose cow-immobilizer. Used for vaccinations, castrations, etc. My father had a "hobby farm" back in the 50's and 60's. We raised Aberdeen Angus Beef cattle. The JPG above is the scanned image of the map he designed to lead his NY buddies down here, after several carloads got lost for several hours. One of 2 on the old farm. It's still there...in poor shape, as the pic will tell! The other one bit the dust when I cleaned up a lottta stuff after I got out of the Navy! Wish I had pix of that area! But, alas digital cameras weren't available at the time. Don't we wish we had access to a time machine? ;-)

You castrated your COWS?
I`ll bet you didn`t get much milk after that operation.

Hey Skip,
did you ever know Col. Richard Allen who owned Sylvania Organic Angus Farm near Gordonsville?

Picture Trail is an excellent site with some nifty features, like slideshow. I joined while it was unlimited free, so I can't add pictures until I delete enough to get below the maximum free number. Click the link to set back and watch a slideshow...but please excuse the mostly red tractors.

Really nice tractor pictures. Enjoyed them very much. And I think the reds ones are very nice also. If I had enough room in my barn, I'd have one or two of them too.

George, looked at your slide show, very nice. Good looking tractors too. Someday I hope to have an IH offset HC with cultivators. Where I use to work they have two 140's and a 130 (amoung a lot of newer stuff). Good tractors, and they can do things the N's can't..... Dave..
