Went and looked at an old farmall today. The lady said it was her dads before he died. She also had several red seal engines. What are they used for.

Adding to bg's list, I think they were used in Kiaser and Frazer automobiles of around the late 40s. Also think Divco used them.

They are Continental industrial engines. I have one in my old JOY compressor. L-head, real similar to the N motor. They used Continentals in some of the Farmalls and lots of other tractors, like the Graham Bradley, fork lifts, road graders, generators, etc.

I have a 1930 model 4 cylinder red seal engine on a lincoln welding machine. I need some reference on the timing mark for the govener which drives the magneto. Engine was in pieces and I have no clue on the proper marks for this gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sammy, Sorry I dont think Im gonna be much help with your timing question. I dont have engine anymore. I have timing cover with govenor,and oil pan ,starter,exhaust manifold,Head, I sold mag on ebay. Let me know if you might be interested in parts. I will make you a package deal on parts as I dont have welder anymore. Thanks Fred
