The cutting edge...

What's up, guys?

I've got an old Dearborn 6' back blade that I use to blade snow. It's gettin' kinda funky in its old age (don't we all?)--last year it started to pop the rivets holding the cutting edge on. It (the edge) needs to be replaced, so I've been looking for a source. Northern Tool has a 7' replacement edge to fit a front-mounted snow blade for @$45, Cutting it down would be no problem--I have both an abrasive chop saw and a torch--but if I could get one the proper length, I think it'd be better. Anyone out there know of a good, reasonably priced source of ready-made cutting edges?

TIA

Ron

I would be very careful about a $45. replacement.
Look locally, you need GOOD steel for that edge. All steel is not equal.

Thanks guys!

The township comissioner lives just a mile or so away. I'll try him first.

Don't know about the bolt hole configuration on the Dearborn but on my snow plow I was able to flip the cutting edge over to use the former top as the bottom, bolted right back on. You can also try Central Parts Warehouse snow plow parts people in IL.

When I needed a new cutting edge about five years ago I got one for free from the county road department. They thought it was used up but it has lasted five years of snow and driveway plowing. Worth a phone call.
