My wife might just install a radio as it would probably get me to quit singing the theme to "Green Acres" on my way back from the field with my 8n. Anybody else sing that song from the tractor seat? I'm more likely to break into song when standing and operating. LOL

Spent enough time on a tractor if you still want to listen to it! 12 hrs on weekend days and every night after school all through junior high plowing quarter sections on a JD 4520 pulling a huge 4 bottom plow in 4th gear with your dad kicking your butt if you stop for lunch would cure most of you. :-)

Especially without a radio. LOL

( I must be getting older, this sounds a lot like a walking to school in the snow uphill both ways kind of story)

Arne, Central tractor had them, and TSC still does I think. They are weather proof and as far as I know they only come in 12 volt. I know that we use them alot, and after a 10-12 hour day I like something other than my singing and the N whining about going home.

My neighbor has over 150 acres.....and I can hear his radio over the sound of his big diesel tractor! There's nothing worth listening to on the radio anymore (except perhaps Dr. Laura). When I'm bush-hogging, I just drive along, looking at the clouds and enjoying the world that I'm in (a world of long ago, when tractors were made good, and there were no portable radios).....wouldn't want some radio spoiling this, by bringing me back to modern times/reality!

Isn't the four cylinder shuffle, enough music for your ears? p.s. I'm a musician, I love music, but wouldn't think of breaking that oneness with my 8n, with those sounds

'cause the constant ringing in my ears from operating various loud equipment, guns, loud music, etc. in my younger years doesn't need to get any louder. My wife gets frustrated with my hearing as it is. But then I would never use this to my advantage. ;-)

Marty,

I'm with you! Besides the "mechanical melody" that's priceless, I want to KNOW when something is going wrong with the tractor--and you can't hear a deviation from the Zen unless you're tuned in--meaning no distractions. I ran low on oil a few years ago (yeah, I know--I should have checked before I started) and I wouldn't have heard the knocking if I'd been distracted with a radio.

Balu-Vilt lists several in their catalog, but ya gotta have 12 volt power. (The website rejects the correct name, hence the Spooneristic consonant transposition.)

"Spooneristic Consonant Trasnposition...". Dang that's good.....you should endeavour to eschew obfuscation (grin).
